Starting off the meeting, CESI Youth Representative Matthäus Fandrejewski presented the CESI Youth activity report 2015.

CESI Youth already well integrated in youth stakeholder community

He noted that the CESI Youth, having been founded only two years ago in 2013, has progressed well in relation to its objective to become well integrated and rooted in the youth stakeholders’ community in Brussels and beyond. He referred in particular to the CESI Youth’s continued participation in the biannual EU Youth Conferences and other meetings such as this year’s CELAC Youth Summit in Quito and an Alliance4Youth conference in Brussels. He also stressed the CESI Youth’s continued active involvement in the EU’s Structured Youth Dialogue and its activities in the European Youth Forum (EYF).
In an outlook to 2016, Mr Fandrejewski reported that the CESI Youth will continue to work on its objective to become more visible in the political arenas. He noted in particular CESI’s cooperation with the EYF in the run-up of its participation in the European Youth Event (EYE) 2016 at the European Parliament in Strasbourg – the biggest youth event to take place in Europe in 2016.

A core future priority: Youth migration

The CESI Youth members then discussed on a draft position paper on youth migration, which is scheduled to be officially adopted in May next year. It will focus specifically on the protection and integration of young refugees in Europe and the role that youth organisations and trade unions play in this regard. Once formally adopted, the position paper will be made available in the policy positions section of CESI’s website.

The next meeting of the CESI Youth will take place in May 2016 in the context of the European Youth Event (EYE) in Strasbourg, France.
